Dr. Marcos Würschmidt, DVM, MSc, PhD, is an equine orthopedic veterinarian based in Belgium, specialized in sport and performance horses. He is a FEI-certified veterinarian (Fédération Equestre Internationale) with more than 20 years of clinical experience focused on lameness diagnostics, joint pathology and high-level performance evaluation.
His work centers primarily on show jumping and dressage horses, where subtle orthopedic findings can significantly influence durability, long-term athletic soundness and overall career value. His evaluations are structured, evidence-based and focused on practical decision-making — particularly in complex orthopedic cases and high-value purchase assessments.
Dr. Würschmidt holds both a Master’s degree (MSc) and a Doctorate (PhD) dedicated to articular diseases in sport horses. His academic background supports a clinical approach that prioritizes long-term performance sustainability rather than short-term findings.
Based in Bocholt, Belgium, he provides veterinary services across Europe — including Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Norway — working closely with professional riders, trainers, owners and international buyers.
His professional practice is fully independent, with no commercial commissions or sales involvement. The objective is clear, medically grounded guidance to support informed and confident purchase decisions.
